Cecil Skotnes (June 1, 1926 – April 4, 2009) was a prominent South African artist known for his innovative woodcuts, paintings, and sculptures. His work often explored African history and mythology, and he was a pioneer in using indigenous materials and techniques. Skotnes was also a dedicated teacher and mentor, playing a significant role in supporting and promoting black artists during apartheid. His legacy continues to inspire generations of South African artists.
