Erik Laubscher (1927-2013) was a South African artist who was known for his abstract landscapes and still lifes. He studied art under Maurice van Essche in Cape Town and later under Fernand Léger in Paris. He also travelled to London and the US, where he was awarded a Carnegie Study Grant in 1966. He participated in four Biennales in Venice and Sao Paolo and received several awards and honors for his contribution to South African art
