Helmut StarkeCollection
Helmut Starke was a South African artist who was born in 1935 in Offenbach, Germany. He trained as a graphic designer and worked for advertising agencies in Frankfurt and Cape Town. He also taught graphic design at the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art for 24 years. Starke was known for his paintings, collages, and prints that combined elements of Pop Art and Photo-Realism. He often used images from magazines, newspapers, and books to create satirical and critical commentaries on social and political issues
