Robert Broadley (1908-1988)

Born in Manchester Uk, Broadley studied at the Victoria school of art in Southport, but it was his passion for golf that lead him to a move to Durban South Africa after much back and forth between the two countries. As a golf pro, he also concentrated on his art career taking on numerous commissions. By 1937 he retired from golf and became a full time artist, moving to the Cape. Broadley was he highly recogonised as a painter as well as draughtsman. His genre was diverse, with a passion for landscape, still life and nudes.
